Vera Nulla — Ink Drawings, Human Hair Art & Dark Surrealism

Ukrainian artist in Prague. Ink drawings, human hair art and dark surrealism — ink on paper and monochrome painting with human hair and hairpins.

Vera Nulla is a Ukrainian contemporary artist based in Prague, born in Kyiv in 2001. Her work combines ink drawings on paper, monochrome painting on canvas and human hair art. The pieces range from small drawings to large-scale works, and every one is an original, made by hand.
Most of Vera Nulla's ink drawings start as sketches from her dreams. Anatomical forms, organic structures and intimate everyday objects are stripped of their original purpose and reassembled into ambiguous figures that feel half-remembered and unsettling. This dream logic places her work within contemporary dark surrealism, where the uncanny and the intimate sit side by side.
Human hair is the material most closely tied to Vera Nulla's practice. On large canvases, real human hair becomes a physical trace of the artist's presence. Hairpins, lace, textiles and found objects carry the drawings beyond the edge of the paper, so each piece reads as a contemporary artifact rather than a conventional drawing. If you are looking for hair art or unconventional-material art by a living artist, this is the core of the collection.
Her central subject is the body as a temporary vessel that changes from birth to death. Ink drawings, monochrome paintings and human hair art together form a visual diary of the body, memory and personal experience.
